Littleton Sub Post Office has been in many locations throughout the village. The earliest record is of a post office at Rose Cottage (now St Swithun's Cottage) on Main Road, started in 1907. By 1915 it had moved to 66 Main Road, then North Drive in 1950 and moving back to another site in Main Road in 1952.
In 1965, Eve's Stores was opened in an old army hut on the corner of Deane Down Drove, and the post office moved there too, with Jack Rowe as postmaster.

| This photograph was taken around 1960 when Eve's Stores still did business in the old, corrugated iron, ex-army hut. The man outside is Mr Harry Edwards. He was Gardener at Rewlands House and his his name is still on some of the Show cups. |

with her daughter Helen on the left. In 1982, Wendy & Pete Willet took over and, after a few years, built the brand new house and shop shown below. |

Finally, on 7 April, 2003, the Deane Down Drove shop and post office closed its doors for the last time. Wendy had agreed to keep the post office running until an alternative could be set up elsewhere in the village.
There were many delays and problems along the way so it was something of a local event when the new Post Office was opened on the 10 April, in what used to be the toilet block of the old Memorial Hall! The resulting building is much better than you might expect from this insalubrious start - as the photographs show.

The Parish Council has put a lot of effort into ensuring that Littleton didn't lose its local post office so it was fitting that Mike Lupton, chairman of the Parish Council, did the official opening with the new postmistress, Chris Robbins at his side. The good Spring weather had temporarily deserted us and there was snow in the air. Nonetheless a cheerful crowd gathered to witness the event |

| The local press was on hand to record the first customer at the counter but Walter Weyndling was just beaten by Mike Lupton for that honour. |

| Then it was left to the new postmistress, Chris Robbins, to
settle into the business of the day - serving a steady stream of customers. Please support this new venture and help make it a success, or we could lose this important local amenity. |
