So it's all over! All the planning, organisation and preparation for our Jubilee celebrations produced two days of activities, with something for everyone - young and old.
The procession went faultlessly (well almost), the children's party was a triumph and, at the adult's party, the wine flowed like water. And then the fireworks provided a spectacular grand finale for the first day.
Over 200 people recovered sufficiently from the first days activities to take part in the boundary walks on the following day. An excellent barbeque awaited the walker's return and restored everyone's vigour. All that remained was to dismantle the tents, pack up the picnic tables and clear up the rubbish. But I'm sure that many people will remember the occasion for many years to come.
The
1950s Exhibition, in the Millennium Memorial Hall, attracted a lot of visitors
throughout the two days.
Everyone I spoke to had a great time and I'm sure that they would like to join me in thanking everyone involved in making the celebrations such an enjoyable event. Not only that but hundreds of pounds was also raised for local charities.
It's impossible to name everyone who made a contribution but I would like to mention Jenny Watson and the Jubilee Committee to thank them for all their hard work.
