We saw no let up in the wet weather through September. Our records, kindly supplied by George Walsh, show that we had nearly 3 times as much rain than in September last year.

Austen Hooker, cup winner and patron of the Littleton and Harestock Gardening Club.
Austen Hooker stands beside the Gardening Club’s entry to the scarecrow competition ‘The Patron’. Austen said he was ‘delighted’ that the club had chosen to make their first scarecrow in his image. He holds the cup he has just won which was presented originally in honour of Austen’s grandfather and is the Frederick M Hooker Memorial Bowl for Flowers. In his other hand is an old five-pronged fork recently fished out of the hedge by one of the residents who now live on the old Hooker’s nursery site and clearly belonged to Grandfather Fred as he was the only one to always use a five-pronged fork.
Despite the weather this year's show, held on 6th Sep, was a huge success. Click on the following Logo to visit the Show Website for more details.
